What is the difference between importing and listing?

Importing is for adding resources which are already deposited in a public repository and the repository manages distribution. Listing is for adding resources which are owned, maintained, and distributed by you.

Importing

If you have deposited your resource in a public repository, you can import it into the CCRR Portal to make it more discoverable. For now, the CCRR portal is able to import information regarding a resource from the following repositories: GEO, SRA, dbGaP, protocols.io, Addgene, Jax Lab, ATCC, ZIRC.

For more details see: Importing Resources

Listing

If a public repository for your resource does not exist or you are unable to deposit there, you can list your resource on the CCRR Portal. When you list your resource, you will be asked to provide detailed metadata about the resource to make it discoverable by others. You may also receive requests via the portal for the resource, and the portal provides a mechanism to handle them.
